Curriculum for Wales Writing Feedback

Formative feedback on writing for learners in Wales, from Reception to Year 11, in Welsh or in English. Upload a piece of writing and see which of the Literacy Framework's "I can" statements it shows evidence for, what it does well and where to go next, written in the language the learner used.

Reception to Year 11

Choose the learner's year group when you upload. Feedback is pitched to the progression steps for that age and the Literacy Framework's writing statements.

Feedback, not a grade

Curriculum for Wales guidance rules out a best-fit judgement of a learner, so there is no grade, band, mark or percentage. Instead you get an evidence map against the "I can" statements, with the words from the writing that show each one, plus strengths and where next.

How the feedback works

Literacy Framework evidence

Each "I can" statement for the year group is shown with the evidence in the writing, or marked as not yet seen.

Welsh or English

Feedback is written in the language the learner wrote in.

Strengths and where next

Specific, quoted strengths and one or two clear next steps rather than a list of every error.

Handwriting read for you

Photograph handwritten writing; it is transcribed before feedback is written.
