1. What this policy covers
“Cookies” is used here as shorthand for cookies, local browser storage, pixels, tags and similar technologies that store or access information on a device. Some operate only for a browser session; others persist between visits.
2. Categories and choices
- Essential: needed for authentication, security, load delivery and recording privacy choices. These cannot be disabled through our tool because the requested service would not work reliably without them.
- Analytics: helps us understand aggregate use, reliability and usability. It is off until accepted.
- Marketing: measures campaigns, connects opted-in activity with enquiries and loads external promotional or reputation tools. It is off until accepted.
Analytics and marketing are separate choices. Consent is specific, can be refused as easily as it is accepted, and can be withdrawn at any time.
3. Technologies in use
The table identifies the technologies configured for the service. A provider may vary an exact cookie name as its service changes; we review the deployed tags and this table periodically.
| Technology or example name | Category | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| ReMarkAble consent record | Essential | Remembers analytics and marketing choices in browser storage | Until cleared or replaced by a new choice |
| Sign-in session storage | Essential | Maintains a secure signed-in session | Session or token lifetime; refreshed while the account remains signed in |
| Google Analytics / _ga, _ga_* | Analytics | Measures visits, navigation and feature use | Typically up to 2 years, subject to our configured retention |
| Microsoft Clarity / _clck, _clsk and related identifiers | Analytics | Helps identify usability and performance problems | Typically session to 1 year |
| Vercel Analytics | Analytics | Measures page performance and aggregate usage | According to Vercel’s analytics controls |
| Google Ads / _gcl_* | Marketing | Attributes conversions and measures campaigns | Typically up to 90 days |
| Meta Pixel / _fbp, _fbc | Marketing | Measures advertising and conversions | Typically up to 90 days |
| HubSpot / hubspotutk, __hstc, __hssc, __hssrc | Marketing | Connects opted-in site activity with enquiries and school relationships | Session to 13 months |
| Trustpilot widget storage | Marketing | Loads the external review widget and measures its use | Set by Trustpilot according to its current service controls |
4. Google Tag Manager and consent signals
Google Tag Manager is the container used to deliver configured analytics and marketing tags. The application records a denied-by-default consent state. The external GTM script is not requested until analytics or marketing consent exists, and tags within it must respect the user’s separate category choices.
5. Changing or withdrawing consent
Use the preference button above or “Cookie Settings” in the site footer. Saving a new choice updates future collection. Withdrawal cannot undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal, and third-party cookies already stored may remain until they expire or are removed in browser settings.
You can also delete site data through your browser. Blocking all storage may sign you out or prevent security and preference functions from working.
6. Personal information and children
Online identifiers and usage events can be personal information even where they do not contain a name. Optional tracking is therefore disabled by default. We do not deliberately send an authenticated pupil’s ReMarkAble account ID to analytics providers.
Further information about recipients, lawful bases, international transfers and rights is in the Privacy Policy and Children’s Privacy Notice.
7. Contact and review
Questions can be sent to privacy@remarkableai.co.uk. We review this policy and the deployed tag configuration when suppliers or purposes change and at least annually.
